Letter from the Director

May 20, 2018 is the Feast of Pentecost, often called the Birthday of the Church.  It is a great occasion to give thanks for all of the blessings that Our Lords bestows on us daily.  We can also go to the Holy Spirit to ask him to keep us docile so as to receive his inspirations, especially those that lead us to choose the path of holiness in everyday life.

Pope Francis recently released his Apostolic Exhortation, Gaudete et Exsultate, or On the Call to Holiness in Today's World.  The Pope says, "Let everything be open to God; turn to him in every situation.  Do not be dismayed, for you can do this in the power of the Holy Spirit, and holiness, in the end, is the fruit of the Holy Spirit in your life" ( no. 15).  The Holy Spirit will enable us to turn to God in the events of each day, especially those that test us, like the situations that try our patience or make us want to turn inward towards ourselves.  Ask the Holy Spirit that we be bold to learn how to smile when we are tired, say a kind word when we prefer to be silent or undertake a task that we want to put off.  These are small steps, but, nonetheless, the matter for holiness.  As St. Josemaria says, in The Way (no. 755), "Many great things depend - don't forget it - on whether you and I live our lives as God wants."

We are very happy that His Eminence, Sean P. Cardinal O'Malley will be Main Celebrant for the Mass of St. Josemaria, on his feast day, June 26.  Cardinal O'Malley will say the Mass at St. Mary's Church, 420 High Street, Dedham, MA on Tuesday, June 26, 2018 at 7:00 pm. Confessions will be available beginning at 6:15 pm.
